SCOPE 
The Planning & Development Department has a regular full-time opportunity for two Planner 2 positions in the Development Planning Division in the Planning and Development Department.
 
Reporting to the Development Planning Manager, this is an intermediate level professional planner position with a considerable level of experience and expertise to undertake a wide range of planning assignments of moderate to high complexity with some responsibility to mentor junior planners.
 
An eligibility list may also be established for two additional 3 year+/- Term opportunities with anticipated end dates of May 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Preparing, researching and providing analysis on a wide range of planning issues.
  • Reviewing and processing complex land development applications (including rezonings, development permits, subdivisions) and enquiries.
  • Responding to enquiries from Council and the public.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports to Council and preparing correspondence to the public.
  • Drafting comprehensive development Zoning Bylaws.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior planners.
  • Other duties include conducting site inspections and researching and analyzing specific planning issues.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a Degree in Planning or a related discipline with supplementary courses recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners as fulfilling the requirement for membership plus a minimum of 5 years related experience.
    OR
  • Completion of relevant Master’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset.

 
Pay Step 1: $60.82
Pay Step 2 (6 months): $63.35
Pay Step 3 (18 months): $66.00
Pay Step 4 (30 months): $68.79
